New arrival in need - Athena

Meet Athena, a 15 year old mare who came to us with a badly overgrown hoof. Although a working donkey, the hoof grew at a slightly strange angle which prevented it from wearing naturally when she walked.

Due to the way the hoof grew, poor Athena had developed the painful condition of laminitis and was very uncomfortable.

Our vet x-rayed the hoof and with careful work done by our farrier, the hoof was gradually trimmed.

Although we will always have to take extra care with her feet, she is now feeling much happier and comfortable. She has already been spotted playing with some of her new friends and with a beautiful face like hers, how can you not love her?
